Jeff & Laura

Adoption brings the precious gift of life to a family. It is truly one of the most selfless acts that can never be repaid. Being parents is the greatest blessing that has been given to us. We have so much love to give that we can't wait to do it all over again. Thanks so much for taking the time to read our profile and considering us for the honor of raising your child.

Adoption in Our Lives

Family Paddle Boat Ride

Our most memorable moment is easily the birth of our son, Owen! We drove 8 hours to Missouri for what we thought would be a few hours of meeting with his birth parents about a month before his due date. As soon as we got back to our hotel after we met, we received a message from them that his birth mom went into labor. Six hours later, Owen was born. With no more than one change of clothes and nothing packed for the baby, we became parents for the first time!

With Owen's Birth Family

We knew that every long second that we waited and counted was worth it. Words cannot express the immediate unconditional love that we felt for him nor could we even begin to say thank you to our birth parents for there are no words that can express that gratitude we have.

When we went back to finalize his adoption, we were very blessed with being able to see his birth family while we were there. We also have a Facebook page strictly for them to receive updates and pictures, and our son loves to see pictures of his birth family too. We look forward to showing him this page and all the comments and pictures that his birth family has shared in return. We hope to continue a similar process with our next child's birth family. We want him/her to know about you as much as possible. Above all, we want your child to understand how much love you have for him/her and how very special he/she is to all of us!

Fun Facts About Us:

  • Jeff and Owen's favorite time of the day is wrestling on the bed and playing loud music for dance time. Laura and Owen love to cook together, go for a bike ride and have cuddle monster time.
  • We have 10 nieces and nephews who love to include Owen in everything they do.
  • Our favorite thing to do is spend family time together.
  • Adoption has touched our lives in many ways. We both have close friends who adopted. Also, we each have a very close friend who was adopted.
  • We met at work 10 years ago, and we still work together.
  • We enjoy going to the zoo, arboretum, parks, library, etc. We also like to go camping, reading, and playing outside.
  • Jeff coaches wrestling, and Laura coaches softball.
  • We’re amazed by the countless number of people praying for another baby for us, including Owen every night.
  • We are excited about moving into a bigger house with a big back yard to play in.
  • Owen’s birth parents deciding to place him for adoption is the most selfless act that we’ve ever witnessed, and we’re humbled that we get to do it again.
  • What it Means to Be Parents

    Christmas Morning Smiles

It may sound cliche, but we truly love everything about being a parent. We love being with Owen every moment that we can. We don’t know if it’s just the long wait, but we’ve enjoyed everything from playing with him on the floor to the 2 a.m. feedings. We love cuddle time after he wakes up from naps, going for walks, family dinner time, reading books, and playing chase around the house.

Laura was able to stay home full time with Owen, and we both love being home during the summer. We have taken him various places such as the zoo, arboretum, aquarium, farm, park, library time, etc. It was great seeing him experience all these for the first time, and we love seeing how much more he can do and experience when we take him back.

Our favorite age seems to be wherever he is at currently and changes as he gets older and we watch him do something for the first time. At first, Laura never wanted Owen to get older, but she has accepted it because she knows that she’ll be able to do it all over again with the next child.

    Our House and Neighborhood

    Our Home

Our home is located in a suburb of a metropolitan city in Illinois, which offers many opportunities and the best of both worlds. We have membership to the zoo and arboretum, so we take many family trips there. We also love playing at one of the many local parks that have playground equipment, basketball courts, pool, community center, and plenty of areas to just run around. In our neighboring towns, we like to visit the museums, movies in the park, splash pads, outdoor festivals, beaches, and an enormous sled hill to enjoy on snowy days. As we are both teachers, we look forward to having the same vacation times as your child to allow for experiences of these activities and much more.

As our family is growing, we plan to move into a bigger house in this area. We want for the children to have more room indoors and outdoors to play and run around. One of the top priorities of our new home is that it must have a big back yard in a family friendly neighborhood in a good school district.

    Our Extended Families

    Jeff's Family

Jeff’s family lives within 20 minutes of us. He is very close with his 2 siblings. They enjoy getting together frequently for brushetta night. His family often does various activities together such as going out to dinner, having a campfire, or just enjoying the outdoors. When they are together, they often play games, such as Jenga, which can get very competitive. Jeff’s family is very fun loving and likes discussing current events. His parents love to FaceTime with Owen. Owen’s cousins are super excited about having another cousin to play with.

    Laura's Family

The majority of Laura’s family also lives close by, except one of her sisters lives in Texas with her family. Her family enjoys the annual Fourth of July trip to her aunt and uncle’s lake house for jet skiing (our personal favorite), boating, playing outdoor games, and sitting by the fire. A typical family get together always involves the cousins playing together, card games, and lots of food. Laura’s mom is an excellent cook and always makes sure each of the grandkids has a favorite dish on the table. Growing up, we went on family fishing trips, and Laura’s dad still loves to take the grandkids out on his boat for fishing. Laura’s parents couldn’t wait until we came home to see Owen, so they drove 10 hours round trip to see their grandchild for the first time. The family can’t wait to have another addition to our clan!

    From Us to You

We cannot even begin to say how much respect we have for any person who comes to such a difficult decision as to give life to a baby and place him/her for adoption. Owen’s birth parents making this difficult choice is honestly the most selfless act that we have ever witnessed. We cannot even put into words the gratitude that we feel towards them because “thank you” seems so trivial for the precious gift of life. Not only was there instant unconditional love for our son but for his birth parents as well. We feel so blessed and humbled by the fact that we get to do this all over again.

Please know that we have been praying for you and your child every single day, and these prayers will continue until our last breath. We have so much admiration for all birth parents because they are giving life to a child and blessing a family who could not have one of their own with the most treasured gift that anyone could ever give ... a child to love, cherish, and care for. This gift can never be repaid, but we want you to know that you will never and could never be forgotten. We promise to share with your child what a difficult decision this was for you. We are excited about sending letters and pictures and would love to have a Facebook page to send you monthly updates like we do for our first child’s birth parents if you choose.

We met at work 10 years ago. When people ask us when we started dating, we don’t even know how to respond. We started off as good friends, and it just progressed into something more. We feel very blessed to have married our best friend.

After we got married, we knew that we wanted to have children right away. Infertility was not an easy road, but we know it helped strengthen our family. As a couple, we grew closer than ever; and as parents, we honestly feel that it helps you to appreciate it so much more. Every moment with your child is a gift not to be taken for granted. Whenever we might feel stressed or tired, our favorite line is “we prayed for this.” The things in life that you have to work hard for are those that you tend to cherish the most.

Since Owen’s birth three years ago, our lives have changed a lot. We no longer get to sleep in, go off and do whatever we want whenever we want, and take couple vacations ... but we couldn’t be happier and would never choose to go back. Owen is such an amazing and adorable kid. He’s so curious and loves to go places and play outside. We can’t decide what our favorite age is because it keeps changing to whatever he is currently at. Laura keeps telling Jeff that the only reason she is okay with Owen getting older is because she gets to do it all over again. She is looking forward to taking a few years off work to raise your child.

After we got married and people would ask us how married life is going, we would always respond with “It’s the best decision that we ever made!” Now that we’ve become parents, we can only say that it’s one of the best decisions that we’ve made. Deciding to get married and become parents define who we are today. We could not imagine life without the other, our son Owen, and another child. Having the honor of raising your child would complete our family. There is so much love and laughter in our family and we cannot wait for another child to share it with.

Best wishes with your most difficult decision,

    Jeff & Laura
