Our Adventures

Disney World - Where We Can Be Kids!

We enjoy traveling and exploring! We love nature and its beautiful, different landscapes. We also enjoy big cities and the culture and bustle they offer. Experiencing the journey as well as the destination is important to us, so we frequently go on road trips and take time to stop along the way. America offers endless opportunities for adventure!

One of our favorite trips was a cruise to Alaska. We'd never been on a cruise ship or to Alaska before. It was spectacular! Everything about the experience was new, interesting, and exciting. We saw gorgeous fjords, mountains, and even a rain forest in Alaska.

We also loved a trip to Disney World we took with Amber's family. Amber planned every part of the trip--the Disney hotel, parks, rides, restaurants, events. We had a fantastic trip with great memories!

We love the calm of the ocean. We have vacationed in Florida with Amber's parents for many years. We also have large lakes and a bay right by us, and the Pacific Ocean is less than 3 hours away.

We look forward to exploring the world with our child, finding new joys and sights that enrich our lives.

Our Passions

Eugene on the Drums

We are passionate about music. We love listening to it, playing it, and seeing live music performances. Amber has played piano since she was 4, competed in numerous competitions and festivals, and also played clarinet in school. Eugene took piano lessons for years, too. He has played drums in rock bands and plays guitar and bass. Our favorite live shows are outdoor, family-friendly concerts put on by a local winery. We picnic and relax in lawn chairs while listening to outstanding music.

We're in awe of nature. We love the tranquility, clarity, and beauty nature offers. Last summer, we traveled to see the total solar eclipse. We live in an amazing world and universe to explore!

Go Cardinals!

Eugene lives and breathes soccer. He has played weekly since he was a child. He participates in recreational leagues and feels like something is missing any time he misses a game.

Amber loves baseball and is a third generation St. Louis Cardinals fan. She and her family frequently attend games, and she never misses a game on TV or radio. She also runs the family fantasy baseball league.

Creativity guides Amber. She loves to photograph everything and create memory books. She makes homemade chocolates, pickles, jellies, cupcakes, and cookies. Her favorite is making gifts for our loved ones and decorations for our home at the holidays.

We look forward to sharing our passions with our child. We are also eager to watch them explore and develop their own passions, encouraging them along the way.

Our Life Priorities

We both value family, first. We enjoy our time together and maximize time with our extended families.

Education and learning are priorities in our lives. We both enjoy learning new things. We appreciate not only traditional classrooms but also learning through hands-on activities, self-teaching, and instructional videos. We both took years of piano lessons and have learned to play other instruments. Amber loves learning new crafting and photography techniques. She taught herself candy-making and canning, and she practices to improve her baking and cooking. Eugene is completing a technology certificate program and loves to tinker with computers.

Being good members of our community is important to us. We strive to be kind, conscientious, and helpful to others. We hope to leave a positive mark on the people in our lives. We value empathy and try to have patience and understanding for others and the troubles they may face.

We will give our child a wide variety of educational, musical, sporting, artistic, and social opportunities. We plan to support our child's interests, helping create joy and confidence in whatever activity they enjoy. It is our goal and responsibility to help our child explore and try out many different things, in order for our child to then develop their own, unique interests and life priorities.

Our House and Neighborhood

We Love Our Friendly Community

We live in a large town in Washington state minutes from Seattle and tall, snow-capped mountains. Nestled between mountains, we enjoy a great mix of urban and small-town living. We have tranquil nature, quaint neighborhoods, and bustling city life all around us.

Our home is on the top floor of a five-story building. From our window-filled living room, we enjoy watching gorgeous sunsets over mountains every night. There are many family activities organized for our community's residents, such as cookouts, bingo, and Easter egg hunts.

Our neighborhood is extremely walkable and family-oriented. We can walk to schools, several parks, downtown, nature trails, all kinds of shopping and other conveniences. We look forward to walking our child to school each morning! Our town has numerous family activities -- street festivals, carnivals, parades, and a children's theater group. Each fall there is a large festival to celebrate salmon swimming upstream back to the local hatchery. It includes arts, crafts, foods, music, and rides. The festival parade goes down our street outside our window, and a carnival sets up across the street from our home.

We can enjoy the outdoors year-round with hiking, skiing, fishing, snowshoeing, and river-rafting. A gorgeous waterfall is 20 minutes away. We're close to an aquarium, small and large zoos, children's museums, science center, and amusement parks. We are near two large, beautiful lakes and a bay, with ferry trips, boat cruises, swimming, and boating. We can't wait to share these fun adventures all around us with our child!

Our Extended Families

Disney With Amber's Family

We have a wonderfully close family of loving parents, sisters (and their mates), and two amazing nieces.

Eugene's Family

Amber's sister and her family live 10 minutes away. We spend lots of time with our niece, Ruby. We go to her at school events, zoos, shopping, and museums. We love helping her rack up points for prizes at the amusement park. She hangs out at our home often -- playing games, baking with Amber, and having fun. Our living room is often a giant blanket fort when she sleeps over.

Our other family lives out-of-state, but we call, Skype, and visit each other often. When our family gets together, we play cards and board games, watch sports, and talk. We cook family dinners, eat out, and bake treats. We love to travel with our families.

Everyone in our family is very supportive of our adoption plan and are excited for a new child!

From Us to You

Thank you for considering us to parent your child. It is a humbling honor. We can't wait for the opportunity to share our love, time, and support with our child. It is a dream of ours to raise a child and offer that child love, comfort, opportunity, fun, and adventure. We will do our best to make sure our child is happy, confident, safe, and prepared for a fulfilling and successful life in this world.

We understand that adoption is a unique opportunity to raise a child, and we look forward to this chance. We imagine that you, like us, probably have questions and fears about adoption and what is to come. We admire your courage in considering adoption. We want you to feel comfort in choosing us to raise your child. We would like to meet you and have an opportunity for you to see and hear us in person. We are open to meeting early, as well as traveling to meet you at the birth. We will help and participate in your pregnancy and the birth according to your wishes.

We look forward to sharing our child's growth with you, at your discretion. We will share photos and letters through the years. We are open to a meeting during the first few years, so that you may see our family. We hope these connections will provide you with the information you need to feel comfortable with your decision. Amber loves to photograph and create scrapbooks. We would be happy to share photos and memory books with you that show our child growing and changing through the years.

We have known each other for more than 15 years. We were friends for years before we dated. Once we decided to date, that was it and we've been together ever since. Nothing has felt more natural or enjoyable than our relationship. We married in Central Park in New York City seven years ago. We celebrate every anniversary. We renew our vows every 2.5 years--it's a chance for us to focus on what we have created in our marriage and a great excuse for traveling. We look forward to adding our child into these celebrations of family, with holidays, birthdays, and marking of special occasions.

Eugene works from home and Amber will be a stay-at-home mom. This means we spend most of our time at home and together. We love this and look forward to showering our child with attention and time. We love the flexibility working from home allows. We allow ourselves space and personal time, have our own hobbies, and yet share many activities. We have great flexibility to travel at any time. We'll be able to attend school events for our child, provide enriching after-school activities on a regular basis, and show our child the world through travel.

Amber has learned from her parents' examples of how to treat people with compassion and kindness, especially those facing difficult situations. Her mother taught pregnant girls in high school or younger. Some decided on adoption for their children. Amber admires her mother for the kindness she showed the girls. She cared about them and understood their unique and individual stories.

We continue to learn about adoption and look forward to what is yet to come. We have faith in this journey and can’t wait to develop a relationship with you as the birth parent. We are open to learning and making adjustments that are in our child's best interests. We want to work together with you as we know this must be a difficult journey for you as well and want you to get to know us as best as you can. We also want to know about you so we can share that information with this child as well. It is so important for he/she to know their adoption story. We are committed to learning and changing as necessary to create a wonderful life for our child with a clear understanding of the gift we have received through adoption.

Thank you for considering us as parents. We look forward to creating a special and unique family.
