Stefan & Erin
We are grateful that you are considering us to be your child's parents. We have dreamed of being parents for a long time.We have so much love to give and we always think of how we would guide a child through their life. We will do everything we can to give your child the best life possible.
Our Life Priorities
We have been successful in our careers and are proud of where we are at. However, we believe family takes priority over all else, including a career. We have decided together that Erin will stay home with a child, as we believe that being with the child during the early, formative years is extremely important to us. Stefan will continue to work, but we believe that work must always take a back seat to family and no job should ever take away from time with your family. Any job that ever asks for us to give up family time would not be the right job for us.
The importance we place on family extends to our extended family, as well. Our parents, siblings, and their children are all excited and supportive of our journey to become parents and will always be there for us. We will encourage our child to also learn from them and know that they will always be another source of support.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
We have been fortunate to have had the chance to travel to a number of places, such as Jamaica, Washington, D.C., Dallas, and Chicago. All gave us lots of opportunities for fun and learning. However, our favorite vacation so far has been Colorado.
We stayed in downtown Denver, as being huge baseball fans, we wanted to see a baseball game there. However, the most memorable parts of the trip were when we spent time further out into western Colorado at Frisco, Breckenridge, and Colorado Springs. Living in the suburbs, we sometimes forget how beautiful and magnificent nature can be as we go about our daily lives. It is humbling to be on top of a large mountain, such as Pike's Peak, and truly see the scale of it. We think it is important to experience nature and know the importance of preserving it.
Whenever we travel somewhere, in addition to leisure, we try to explore and absorb. We look forward to one day being able to share that with a child.
Our Extended Families
Stefan's family is originally from the United Kingdom. Stefan and his parents moved to the U.S. when he was two. His parents live approximately four hours away by car. Stefan also has a sister who is married with three children, and lives approximately 90 minutes away. We see them as a great example of how to build a strong, happy family. We try to visit family as often as possible, and being within a half day drive lets us do that. We enjoy visiting our three nieces, who are always excited to see us. They love to have Erin read to them and get both of us to play every game they own. Hide and seek is a favorite game when we are around.
Erin's family (mother, father, and sister) live in the same area as Stefan's parents, which makes it easy to see everyone when we visit town. Erin's parents divorced when she was young, however they remain close friends, and they all still share family time.
Our families have been extremely supportive of our journey to adopt and were very excited to hear that we had made the decision to grow our family. They look forward to being there for us in any way they can.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a quiet suburban neighborhood in Missouri. We picked our home with the thought of a future child in our minds. Many of the the households in our neighborhood are young families with children ranging from grade school to high school age. We are fortunate to have many local parks and trails, with activities available for children and adults, from children's playgrounds to disc golf courses. We enjoy biking on the many trails in the area. There are also many city-sponsored events, from the weekly farmers market to yearly local festivals, with children's face-painting and carnival rides.
Our home is a split-level, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home. We spend most of our time in the open living room/kitchen area. This allows us to plan and cook meals while being open to the living room area. We can play with our dog in the living room while keeping an eye on our meals. One of the bedrooms is a dedicated office, which allows Stefan to work from home on a semi-regular basis. The fourth bedroom gives us a lot of flexibility for having family or friends visit us at any time.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. It means the world to us to even be considered for such a meaningful responsibility as raising your child. We look forward to sharing our values with a child, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and teaching them to treat others the way you want to be treated.
We have been together for almost 11 years and married for 9. We love each other more than anything in the world and have wanted for a long time to share that love with a child. We tried to have a child biologically, but twice lost pregnancies. While that experience was painful, through our journey to heal and look toward our future, we have become even closer and the pain has given way to excitement about the prospect of growing our family through adoption.
We'd like to share a little more about ourselves. Stefan works as a software engineer. He has always been drawn to computers and technology since he was a child, so he is very fortunate to have had the chance to turn that passion into a career that he enjoys and can be proud of. He looks forward to being able to nurture a child's passions and interests, so they can have the same opportunity. Other interests that Stefan has had since childhood are baseball and astronomy. On a clear night, he will take his telescope outside to see the moon, planets, and stars. The scale of the universe is awe-inspiring and Stefan looks forward to sharing that sense of wonder.
Erin is currently working as a sterile processing technician at a local surgery center. She found that she enjoyed working towards her associates degree and feels very fortunate to be a part of a team dedicated to the care and safety of patients. However, she looks forward to staying home with a child, if we are fortunate enough to be selected. We both feel it is important to have at least one parent at home to begin that nurturing bond. Erin is an avid reader and looks forward to passing that on and encouraging the imagination that reading inspires.
We would love to share with you the journey of your child as they grow, through letters and pictures, if you would like. We will share with them the journey we took to becoming a family. They will always know that adoption is a gift, one for which we will be forever grateful. We would love to be able to talk with them about their birth family, to whatever extent you feel comfortable with us sharing with them.
We know that you want to make sure your child is given the best opportunities and all the love they could need, so we understand this is a difficult decision for your. Not only are we ready to share our love and our life with your child, but our whole families are ready to embrace them. We couldn't ask for a better source of support than our families. Your child will always be shown unconditional love and our providing the best life possible will always be the biggest motivating factor in our lives. Thank you for considering us. You will always be in our thoughts.
