Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

A Beautiful Fall Day

Jason about Nicole: Nicole has one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. She puts others before herself and I love that about her. She is very intelligent, passionate, and excels at teaching. She loves to learn new things and works very hard at the goals she sets for herself. Two of the things that made me fall in love with Nicole were her sense of humor and her quirkiness. Nicole loves to have fun and doesn’t shy away from new adventures. She is the glue that holds our family together and is the most amazing mother to our son.

Date Night

Nicole about Jason: I love Jason’s drive and passion for life. He is a great leader in every way, always looking for ways to do better whether that is at work, home, or in the community. Jason truly listens when we have conversations and is supportive of all that I do. I can’t imagine not having him in my life. He is loving, caring, and affectionate. He always helps me look at situations in a new light and I love that about him. Jason is so funny, he has the best sense of humor, and is always trying to make everyone laugh. He is such a fun dad and gets the best belly laughs out of Asher. I can’t wait to watch him share his love and passion for life with another child.

Addressing Cultural Diversity

We will continue working hard to make sure that our children are being raised in an environment that represents diversity. In our home we have books, dolls, art, and other items that represent all different races and cultures. Representation is very important to us and we will always celebrate our children’s race and culture. We will learn about our children’s heritage, and teach them about the practices, holidays and traditions that are important for them to understand their ethnic culture.

It is important to us that our children have doctors, teachers, and other professionals that look like them. We will make sure our children can observe and interact with peers, adults and mentors of their own race. We will seek out community events and places that embrace diversity like we do.

We currently live in a diverse community where the daycares and schools, our children will attend, consist of teachers and children from many different racial and ethnic backgrounds. We also attend a church that has many families built through adoption as well as other transracial families. We will dedicate our lives to honoring our children’s birth culture, heritage, and race.

Our Leisure Time

Visiting Our Local Park and Zoo

We are a very active family that enjoys riding bikes, going for walks, doing yoga, and spending time outside. We love being on the water whether we are boating on the lake, snorkeling in the ocean, or fishing off the dock.

We enjoy watching our favorite sports teams and going to sporting events with friends. On the weekends we enjoy cooking together, watching movies, going to the children’s museum, and just being together as a family.

We love traveling to warm destinations. On the weekends we spend a lot of time with family and friends. We enjoy going to new restaurants and trying different foods, listening to music, walking our dog, working on projects around the house, and attending community events. Having fun as a family is something we do well.

We dance every night in the kitchen while we cook dinner and our house is always filled with laughter. We have fun together no matter what we are doing. We have so much love to give and we are so excited to share that love with another child.

Our Extended Families

Jason's Family

Both of our parents live close by which means we get together often to celebrate birthdays, cook out in the park, or bake cookies. Any reason to get together! Nicole’s brother and his family only live a couple hours away which means plenty of fun times with our two nephews.

Jason’s sister and her family live in Florida which is a great reason to hop on a plane and go bury our toes in the sand. Our extended families are also very close, and we enjoy going camping, getting together to watch sports, and share laughs.

Nicole's Family

We have a lot of family traditions that include: decorating holiday cookies, staying at our family's lake house together during the summer months and participating in the annual family fantasy football league. Both of our families were so excited to hear that we were adopting again.

We also have many close friends that we consider family. It is so fun to get the kids together at the pool, children’s museum, or the park. All our friends and family have been unbelievably supportive throughout our journey and they can’t wait to welcome another child into our family.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a beautiful ranch style home in a family friendly and quiet neighborhood. All our neighbors are wonderful and are always outside walking dogs, playing basketball, or pushing strollers. Our house has three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms and an open concept living area. We have a large private backyard with a deck, fire pit and plenty of room for yard games.

Our community is small, but relatively diverse. It is a common travel destination in our region of the state which offers a lot of unique experiences throughout the year including state fairs, large parades, and music festivals.

We also live near a larger city that is much more diverse and with even greater opportunities for education, cultural experiences and family activities.

Our neighborhood and community are always busy with families and kids playing outside. Nearby, there are walking, hiking and biking trails to enjoy all year round. We also live near a popular city park, zoo and pool that we both grew up enjoying with our families and can’t wait to experience with our children.

From Us to You

Hello,

We’re Jason and Nicole - thank you so much for taking the time to read a little about us and for considering us as you make this difficult decision. We want you to know how deeply we respect you and the brave choices you are making. We hope that you will be able to see the love we have for each other, our son, our families, friends and our future child.

Adoption has been a passion of ours that has excited us long before we were ever married. We have always wanted adoption to be a part of our story. We started our first journey to adopt and 9 months later brought our son Asher home. We have spent the past year and a half watching him grow and building a beautiful relationship with his birth family. Welcoming our son into our family was such a blessing to us and we are so excited to welcome another child into our lives. We feel so honored to have been chosen to parent our son. We have the utmost respect and admiration for his birth mother. She made us parents and that is the greatest privilege of our lives. Our son is still young, but we are already telling him parts of his story and will continue to share his adoption story with him throughout his life. We promise your child will always know how loved they are by you. They will know the sacrifices and tough decisions you made for them. You will forever be talked about and honored in our home.

Having an open adoption is something we hope and pray for, but we would respect whatever decision you make. We understand that relationships grow and change over time and we will always put in the work to build a strong connection with you through open communication. We have a very open adoption with our son's birth mother and her parents. We share pictures, videos, and text messages often. We also plan time to get together in person and celebrate special occasions. We are open to any type of relationship you want both now and in the future. We will respect the decisions that you make and what is best for you. No matter what you decide you will always be a part of our family.

We love being parents and experiencing life through our child's eyes. Being parents is truly the greatest gift of all and we do not take a moment for granted because we know how blessed we are. A brave woman chose us to parent her child and we will spend the rest of our lives thankful for that decision and honoring her in our home. Being a parent to us means developing traits in our children, such as kindness, compassion, honesty, respectfulness, patience, and unconditional love. What we love most about being parents is the simple moments we get to experience every day. We love watching our child experience everything for the first time. Dancing in the kitchen, reading bedtime stories, and hearing them say “I love you” are some of our favorite things about being parents.

Jason and I enjoy taking our son everywhere with us. We are a very active family and love new adventures. We are so excited to grow our family and have another child to love and experience life with. Our dream for our children is to live life to the fullest, have fun, be kind to others, and experience everything this beautiful world has to offer.

We pray that you would have the strength and courage you need throughout this journey. We would love the opportunity to meet you and learn more about you. We’re excited at the possibility of having you and your child be a part of our forever family.

With love,

Jason & Nicole
