Why We Chose Adoption

We Can't Wait to Become Parents!

We have always dreamed of having a family, however our path to parenthood has not been easy. After discovering we had infertility issues, we chose to try IVF. Three IVF attempts failed, but we were thrilled to find out that the fourth attempt resulted in a pregnancy. Unfortunately, Joyce developed pre-eclampsia at 22 weeks. Our son, Camden, was born prematurely on April 29, 2017. We spent 10 days in the hospital with him before he sadly passed away.

After grieving the loss of our son, we discussed trying IVF again, but wanted to know what went wrong with our first pregnancy. After many blood tests and meeting with different doctors, Joyce was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. The doctors told us that it was genetic. We were told us that another pregnancy could be possible, but could also have some complications. We both know we could not go though loosing another child.

We now know that adoption is the path meant for us. We cannot wait to become parents and are so excited to see where this adoption journey takes us!

Fun Facts About Us:

  • We like to make each other laugh.
  • We like to travel and visit any place that allow us to go fishing and enjoy nature.
  • We like to be with our families when they come into town. We don't get to spend a lot of time with them due to living far away.
  • We love to cook. Joyce mainly cooks in the kitchen. Brandon loves to barbecue.
  • We enjoy playing and spending time with our dog, Duke. He loves when we play fetch. Our other dog, Buster, sadly passed away.
  • We love going out with our friends and seeing what they have been doing.
  • We love to wake up early Saturday morning and go to garage sales. We would find different pieces of furniture and redo it.
  • We love going to farmer's market in the summer. We love the smell of different vegetables and fruits and great way to know the people in your community.
  • We enjoy sitting at our table and talking about the day we had at work.
  • We love being around each other!
  • Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Joyce About Brandon: Brandon has a wonderful sense of humor! When I'm having a bad day, he will go on Instagram, make this funny face and text it to me saying, "I love you and it will be better tomorrow." Something like that just makes me laugh and I know that he loves me. Another quality is our love for one another. When we lost our son, Camden, some people worried how such a great loss could affect our relationship. However, this tragedy made our love for one another much stronger.

Brandon About Joyce: The qualities I love about Joyce are her strength, passion and love for what she wants. After losing Camden, I didn't know if we would ever become parents. After months passed by, Joyce came to discuss our options - She researched, went to six different specialists, and had countless tests to find out what went wrong with the pregnancy. As I look back and sitting beside her in the doctor's office, I can't imagine what was going though her mind. Her love and passion for wanting a family is unbelievable.

    Our House and Neighborhood

    Our Home

Our house is 2,500 square foot with five acres of land. Our favorite rooms are living room and kitchen, where we do most of the laughing and gathering.

Just 15 minutes away there is a wonderful park that has swings and slides for the kids. We spend lots of time at this park, running and walking the dogs.

The town we live in as an annual Spring Market day. Spring Market is like a farmer's market, with different vendors coming out to showcase their fruits and dessert. A nearby town also has lots of family friendly events. In April, they have a parade, which opens the farmer's market. They have different vendors, foods, and games for the kids. It's a fun way to bring family and friends together and enjoy the beautiful weather. In August, they have event called Red Brick Street to welcome all the students back from the summer. There are lots of performers and food with everyone getting together to talk about the summer. In early winter there is an event called Open House where most of the stores stay open late for people to shop for Christmas.

    Our Extended Families

    Joyce & Her Parents

We both grew up in a small Delta town. Both of Joyce's parents are retired and now lives 45 minutes way. We love visiting her older brother and his family in Natchez. We visit her younger brother and his family twice a year in Tennessee. During Christmas, Joyce's family tradition is to let the little kids pass out the Christmas presents. Watching them makes us smile and laugh because it reminds us of when we were their age passing out the presents. Because Joyce's family is Asian, we celebrate Chinese New year. Her mom invites the whole family over and cooks a big feast at their house. The table fills with Chinese food and dessert. After dinner, her mother will pass out Chinese red envelopes, which symbolizes luck in your life.

    With Our Niece & Nephew

Brandon's parents were divorced when he was a baby. He lived with his mother growing up and she raised him with the help of his grandparents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. He spent countless hours playing with his cousins. Every other weekend, he would go see his dad and half-brother. They enjoyed going hunting and fishing together. During the Christmas holiday, we will gather everybody together at the table and play card and board games.

When we told our family that we were going to do adopt they were all excited for us. They are so happy we have chosen adoption as a way to grow our family and they cannot wait to meet the newest family member!

    From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to look at our letter and for considering us as a family for your child. We admire your love and courage in considering an adoption plan for you and your baby. It takes a lot of trust and faith to let others care for a child you've brought into this world. It's a difficult and personal decision, we can only imagine how you feel. We will make every effort to live up to your trust and be worthy of it. We promise that our home will be filled with love and laughter, and that you will always have a place in our hearts and family. We have lots of love to give and only wish to have the opportunity to give it. We sincerely hope that we are the couple you choose to raise your baby.

We have been married for six years and have so much we want to share with the child. Every day we think about what our day to day life as a family will be like some day. We both love to play cards and card games. We love to sit around the table and play UNO or Monopoly. We want to encourage creative play that the child interest in: going to event where you can get in big trucks or watch baseball or football game.

We are prepared to care for and support a child. We are fortunate to be able to adjust our schedule to care for the child. We are a very active couple. We want you to feel that your child will have parents who enjoy walking in the park or bike riding. We look forward to see what activities and sports this child will enjoy.

Most importantly, we look forward to spending time together as a family. We expect making sit-down family dinner and maintaining family time a habit, even after our child grows to have more independent activities. We have an active spiritual life and believe that providing the child with spirituality and a religious community is important. We hope to emphasize the values of respecting others, appreciating differences, acknowledging other's strengths and being kind to those in need.

If you choose us, we are eager to talk with you about hopes and what type of contact you find comfortable. We would be happy to send photo and letter updates if you like, and we could set up time if you would like visits and how often. We are open to you being a part of our lives and in whatever way you are comfortable with. We are prepared to respect your privacy. Most importantly, we want the child to know where he or she comes from and that you chose adoption out of love.

We want you to know that we look forward to giving love, adventures and support to the child we are lucky to adopt. We will listen so that we can help the child realize their own dreams.

    Sincerely,

    Brandon & Joyce
