Adam & Elizabeth
Family is very important to us. We realize that you are making an important and courageous decision when picking adoptive parents and we thank you for considering us. Our promise to you is that we will provide your child with a loving, safe, and nurturing family environment. We will always respect your child's individual qualities and talents. There is no greater joy to us than being parents.
Adoption in Our Lives
Our family has become whole through adoption. We have our wonderful son because of this process. Also, three close family cousins were adopted internationally and one domestically. Our families have always been open about adoption and incorporated the child's culture and background into our lives. Each child, adopted or biological, is part of our loving family unit that treats each person with respect and acceptance. Both of us have grown up in close families and want to continue making family our main focus as our immediate family expands. We know that God sometimes chooses to bring families together in different ways. The love we have for our adopted son and other family members has opened our hearts to the adoption process and we know that our love will be even stronger with the addition of another child. Our adopted son has brought us more joy that we can ever imagine and we know that our next child will be a blessing and further strengthen our family.
Our Leisure Time
Leisure time is very important to us as a family. We each have a variety of hobbies and interests but we have also found shared activities that help us grow closer as a family.
Adam enjoys spending his leisure time playing guitars and listening to music with our son. He also likes playing games on his IPad, watching sports and collecting items such as CDs and glasses.
Elizabeth enjoys going to the gym, eating out at new places, watching movies and reading to our son.
Together as a family, we love to spend our leisure time going on long walks on the trail near our home or to the park with our son and dogs. We all really enjoy attending concerts, local sporting events, pet fundraisers, and going to see the latest new movies. In addition, our family loves to plan new adventures together. We like to go on float trips during summer months, family vacations to the beach, and visit museums and towns to explore their history. We look forward to growing our family and the opportunity to explore new activities together.
What It Means to Be Parents
Becoming parents has been a blessing to our family. We wanted to start a family for a number of years, but have been unable to have biological children. Adoption was already a part of our extended family and we knew it was the right decision for us as well. When we adopted our son, James, it solidified our path to expand our family. Our entire family is so excited for us to grow our family through adoption.
Watching a child grow and develop into a unique individual, with qualities and characteristics from their birth parents and adoptive parents, is the best part about being parents. We look forward to celebrating milestones such as a first birthday, learning to walk, first day of kindergarten, graduation from high school and all the many life events that happen in between. We document and photograph these moments for the child to have and to pass along to the birth family. Providing endless amounts of love, hugs and kisses, is something we love about being parents. Attending school activities, sporting events and providing a welcoming spot for a child's friends is very important to us.
Our House and Neighborhood
Our home is in a family friendly neighborhood in a suburb of Missouri. Children are often seen walking their dogs, playing sports and having fun. We love to spend evenings as a family taking long walks through the neighborhood, exploring, and visiting our friends nearby. Within walking distance, we have a scenic biking and walking trail, playgrounds, ball fields, and plenty of green space. We live in a two-story home with four bedrooms and a play area. Our son loves playing in our fenced in backyard with a kiddie pool and lots of outdoor play toys. Elizabeth's extended family and parents live near by with a family-oriented community center, water park and a great playground.
The neighborhood school district has received Excellence in Education Awards. The schools are culturally diverse and offer a strong education. The schools provide programs in athletics, fine arts, special education, technology and after school activities.
Our city is home to many family-oriented attractions. One of our favorites, an animal park, is where we love feeding baby goats, watching the talented animal shows and camel rides. At our world famous local zoo, we enjoy walking through the penguin house, seeing the swimming polar bears, riding the train, and seeing the variety of animals. Another fun filled spot is a magic house with a children's village, two story slide, and lots of hands on activities. We feel fortunate to have many great opportunities for families so close to home.
Our Extended Families
The family that laughs together, supports each other, and shares with each other, stays together. That is how we think of our extended families. Elizabeth's parents, brother and husband, her grandmother, and many of her other family members live nearby. Grammy and Grampy and uncles, Dan and Stephen, can't wait to welcome another child into our family. We spend a lot of time taking walks, reading stories, and having fun together and look forward to doing the same with a new child.
Adam's parents live in Maryland. His sister and family live in Arizona. Although Adam's family is far apart, they visit each other as often as possible. Grandma Marsha is artistic and loves to bake and do art projects with her grandchildren. Grandpa Kenny shares his musical talent. Visits on Skype and frequent phone calls help keep the families in touch. They are eager to share their love with another grandchild.
Extended family members are always getting together for family dinners, float trips, ballgames, and game nights. Birthdays are celebrated with a lot of festivities. Special moments, like Christenings, school plays, graduations, and sporting events are attended by many family members. We have taken many fun filled beach vacations together.
Holidays, especially Christmas, are filled with lots of decorations and Santa wish lists. Our family gathers together on Christmas Eve. Christmas day starts with presents from Santa and continues throughout the day with family gatherings.
From Us to You
Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents to your child. We have chosen separate paths as a birth parent placing a child for adoption and as a married couple hoping to adopt, but through adoption the goal of both of these journeys is that your child finds a loving, nurturing, and safe home.
Our journey started together in 2007 and we have been married for nine years. Since the time we met, we have known we wanted to start a family together. Our initial focus was on establishing our careers and a stable home life. Although, we are unable to have biological children, adoption has played an important part in our lives. Our adopted son, James, is a blessing and we'd like to continue growing our family through adoption. Our hope is that your child and James will have a closely bonded relationship and share in many milestones together.
Our promise to your child, is to provide unconditional love, both from us and our extended families. Your child will be raised in a safe and stable environment in a family centered community. Respect for your child as a unique individual with special gifts and talents will always be a part of your child's upbringing. You child will be educated about their cultural background and traditions. Hugs and kisses will be abundant in their lives. Quality education is important to us and we promise to make sure your child has access to the best neighborhood schools and a path towards college or other education that will enable them to achieve their goals.
We realize all families go through good and bad times, but we will always stand by your child. In life, it is easy to get caught up in the responsibilities of every day life, but we will always take time to laugh and play together. Some of the best memories of our childhoods are the stories and books that we shared with our parents, so we promise to keep this tradition going with your child.
We realize the importance of being involved in a child's school and extracurricular activities. Our home will be an open and inviting place and welcoming to your child's friends. Creating an honest and trusting relationship between us and your child will be key. We promise to recognize and be supportive of your child's unique talents. Our immediate and extended families will always embrace your child. We are accepting of all religions and will give your child a spiritual path. The final promise is to welcome your child as a gift from God.
Your child will be raised with the knowledge and understanding of their adoption. We will always emphasize that you as the birth mother made an important and courageous decision to place your child in an adoptive, loving, and supporting family unit. During the course of your child's life, we will send pictures, letters, and share stories with you. Your child will always know you as the birth mother and the important role you play in our lives.
As we make these promises to you, be assured that we will be able to provide for the needs of your child including a nice home, strong education, community, and a loving family. Elizabeth works as a pediatric nurse which gives her the background, communication, and knowledge to care for children of all ages and cultures as well as providing the flexibility to give your child time and attention. Adam works as a financial IT manager which gives us the financial stability and abundance to provide not only for your child's needs, but to give them additional opportunities.
Our prayers and hopes are that our journeys will take us to the same destination. We look forward to being parents and providing and sharing all the love in our hearts with your child.
With open hearts,
Adam & Elizabeth
