Our Lifestyle

At the Beach

We are simple people who strive on faith and love. We are very relaxed and laid-back, but at the same time we love to be spontaneous. Unplanned activities are our favorite and we call it "going on an adventure"- no plans just get in the car and drive to wherever it takes us. We love our family and our friends and we try to enrich our lives with experiences and memories and not "things." We live in a rural, yet diverse, neighborhood and enjoy going to farmers markets or local community events with others. We are comfortable with all types of people and backgrounds, and can fit in almost anywhere we go. Living in the south affords us lots of opportunity for outdoor activities like fishing, sports, bonfires (s'mores!), and outside play year-round. We enjoy a good trip to the beach, or even a simple backyard picnic. We enjoy doing the things that make life light, joyful, and meaningful. We are content, but absolutely cannot wait to enrich our lives with a child and share all these special times and moments.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Fun Day at the Park

Chris About Kim: "Let me count the ways"… Kim is the love of my life. She is my rock, the reason why I wake up and my absolute soul mate. She is caring, understanding, and has a glow that lights up the room when she walks in. She has a love for people and all animals; she would give you the shirt off her back and last quarter. I couldn't imagine where my life would be without her. We've been married twelve years, but I feel like we're still newlyweds; every day is a new and exciting adventure!

Kim About Chris: Fairytale... every day I feel like I am living in a fairy tale. This man is my tower of strength, the foundation I strive on. We are opposites, and he completes me and makes me whole. He's the type of husband who wakes up fifteen minutes before me, only to make sure my coffee is made every morning (he doesn't even drink coffee!). His main goal in life is to make sure that I am happy and know that I am loved. He is such a wonderful provider for our family and strives to do and be the best person he can be. He is patient and composed; he is smart and clever; he is helpful, outgoing, and a true gentleman and I am so proud to be his wife. He is such an amazing husband, and I know without a doubt that he will be an incredible father.

Discussing Adoption

"Family not only need to consist of those whom we share blood, but also for those whom we'd give blood." - Charles Dickens.

"Love makes a family" will be a big foundation in our household. It's something we will talk about openly to our child, and will begin the adoption dialogue from an early age. We will talk freely and honestly about adoption from the time our child is very young so that there is never a time in their life when this information comes as shocking news. We know that a child's biological history is so important to them and we want our child to embrace who they are and where they come from. We'll explain that sometimes families grow in different ways; through the heart and through love, but together, we walk through life helping, encouraging, and supporting each other.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is located in an amazing little town in south Louisiana; we've lived here for almost five years. We own a lovely and spacious three bedroom home with plenty of room to grow and cannot wait to fulfill our desire of little feet running through the house and bringing joy and laughter into our home in new ways. When we were looking for our "forever home" we just knew this small hometown was right for us. We feel our neighborhood is absolutely perfect for raising a family. We live on a dead-end street perfect for strolls and bike riding. There are also plenty of children to play with, and a large park just down the road.

Our Local Park

One of the reasons we chose this location was the fact that our school district has an "A" rating with the State Board of Education and is one of the top elementary schools state-wide; which is very important to us. Our community celebrates the Fourth of July like no other! There is a big family friendly festival complete with a carnival filled with lots of fun. On the night of July 4 the Festival wraps up with a stunning firework display over the town skies. There is also a Holiday event on the Friday evening after Thanksgiving Day where everyone gathers downtown for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree! There's Christmas music, hot chocolate, and a distinct magic in the air as Santa arrives and visits with the children and families.

Our Extended Families

Chris' Parents

We both are blessed to have a large supportive network of family, and family-oriented backgrounds. Chris' parents live on country farmland, but only about 20 minutes away from our home, where there are acres of land for a child to explore and play. Kim's grandmother and sister also reside close, about 15 minutes away. Kim's sister has one child, a daughter who is also our goddaughter, and she is the light of our lives. We visit our families regularly and talk to them on the phone almost daily. We always enjoy holiday gatherings and birthday celebrations together. Most holiday traditions are surrounded with family and love and we plan to always keep it that way. Christmas Eve is spent at Chris' parents' home and also with Kim's extended family. On Christmas morning we like to stay at our home and enjoy each other's company and watch "A Christmas Story"—then, we head to Kim's grandmothers house for Christmas dinner.

Kim's Family

In addition to our immediate families, we also have a very close-knit circle of longtime friends who have become family. We are uncle, aunt, and godparents to their children as well, and we enjoy spending lots of time with them. Everyone is so very excited for us to add a child into our family; and they are our biggest supporters! A strong family unit is something we both cherish, as well as what we want to instill in our children.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to view our profile, and know that we are truly honored to write this letter to you.

We know this is not an easy decision for you, and would like to express our admiration for the strength and courage it takes for you to consider adoption. We respect your decision to choose life and hope that you are filled with a sense of peace with this decision as you begin to build an adoption plan for your baby.

We'd like to take this opportunity to tell you more about ourselves and hope you find everything you're looking for in an adoptive family. We are Chris and Kim; we've been together for almost 14 years and happily married for over 12 of those years. Chris is an insurance adjuster and Kim is a paralegal. We are simple, very fun-loving, and enjoy spending time laughing. We love to do activities as a couple. We enjoy night's with close friends, having family over for BBQs, taking trips locally, watching college football and basketball, doing puzzles, games, and lots of movie nights on the couch snuggling up. Through the years we have made many great memories together.

Since early in our marriage we began trying to grow our family. We endured many years of struggle, pain, and loss with unsuccessful fertility treatments. Despite infertility, we've always desired to have children and very quickly came to the conclusion that biology isn't what makes a family: love is. Our hearts are full at the thought of raising a child in a kind and loving home where we value compassion, understanding, and empathy.

Obviously, we are a biracial family. Chris is African American & Caucasian and Kim is Caucasian. Our home environment is open and loving of all races and cultures as we are living a life filled with diversity. Your child will grow up in a family having diverse relatives and friends as we have created a world where they see people who look like them all the time and their heritage is nurtured.

As parents, we look forward to planning family vacations, and sharing our traditions. The special holiday moments like trick-or-treating, Thanksgiving dinner, and Christmas morning are some moments we've anticipated sharing with a child. We look forward to flying kites, visiting nearby parks, having picnics together, and just being adventurous and spending quality time as a family with your child.

We will give your child opportunities to learn and explore their surroundings and to be curious about their world. We will nurture his or her passions, talents, and hobbies and we will teach them to be a kindhearted, confident and responsible person. We will provide a warm and stable home full of joy, happiness, laughter and lots of snuggles.

We promise to raise them in a cheerful environment surrounded by loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Family is so important to us and a big part of who we are. We know a child will be very loved by everyone around him or her, and they will have all the support needed to thrive.

We respect your privacy and will honor your decisions, whether that includes limited or no contact, occasional updates, or a more open relationship. We want you to know that you will always have a special place in our hearts. We know life sometimes leads us down paths we never expected and without all of the twist and turns in our own lives, we would not have been led to you and to the child we will love forever. We know you have a story, and we hope to incorporate your story with ours and create something beautiful. We want to be your partner in making sure that your baby gets the best life possible. As your child gets older, we will tell them all about you and the events that brought them into our lives.

Our journey towards adoption has been an exciting one for us and we look forward to sharing it with you. Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us and reading our story. We wish you all the very best in the days ahead.
