What it Means to Become Parents

Hayride to Pick Pumpkins

To us becoming parents will be the most rewarding and toughest job we will ever have, but we believe wholeheartedly it will be the best thing that will ever happen to us!

We have three incredible nephews and we've seen them at their best; all the hugs, kisses and "I love you's," We've also seen them at their worst; we've seen them steal toys from one another and throw temper tantrums. We know that it won't always be easy, but we can honestly say, with the amount of love we already have for our future children, we know it will all be worth it.

We are really looking forward to all the first's just like other parents. We look forward to hearing their first words, and watching the first time they crawl and walk. We also can't wait to teach them things, like how to ride a bike and how to read. We hope they are into sports just like we both were when we were younger and, if they aren't, that's OK, too. Whatever their passion is, we will be behind them 110 percent!

Adoption in Our Lives

Christina & Anthony on the Tilt-a-Whirl

Back in 2012, Christina's brother, Michael, started dating his ex-girlfriend, Liz, again. The two had dated briefly when they were in 9th grade but went their separate ways later in life.

In the time that they were not together Liz had a son named Anthony. The pair came into our lives when Anthony was only 5 months old. Christina remembers saying, "I'm not going to get attached to the baby in case this relationship doesn't work out." However, as soon as Anthony looked up at her with those big, beautiful, blue eyes, she just fell in love with him!

In 2014 Michael and Liz got married and shortly after they started the adoption process for Michael to adopt Anthony. The whole process took about a year an a half, but once the adoption was finalized we threw a party ... literally! We cannot imagine our lives without Anthony and we all love him dearly. He will be a wonderful big cousin to this child!

Our Family Traditions

We have a ton of family traditions! Starting with New Year's Eve, we have our immediate family over and have lots of yummy food and play games until the ball drops.

Easter is another holiday that is done at our house. We start off having Christina's siblings and our nephews over to color Easter eggs. Then on Easter Sunday we play our egg cracking game (Christina is currently the champion) after dinner we have an Easter egg hunt in our back yard.

In July, Steve and the guys in our family drive to the Pocono Speedway for the Nascar race Steve started that tradition five years ago.

At Christmas Christina and her brother try and outdo each other to see who can get the other the silliest and most outrageous gift. It's something they started the first Christmas after their brother John passed away. Neither one of them wanted anything except to have John back, so Christina thought to herself, "I'm going to get something so ridiculous that next year he'll tell me what he really wants." Unknowingly, Michael thought the exact same thing and it's something we do each year and it always makes everyone laugh.

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

We live in a small suburban town located in the Lehigh Valley region of Eastern Pennsylvania.

We live in a two-story colonial home with three bedrooms, a big back yard and a pool. Our favorite room would have to be our basement, which Steve built and designed into a fun game room and home theater.

We live within walking distance to two different parks and a walking trail. Our neighbors are extremely friendly and kind, always waving with a smile or stopping for a quick chit-chat to catch up.

Gameroom

What's nice about our location is that even though we are kind of tucked away, we are only a 20-minute drive from the city. There are several annual events held in our town, including the annual Halloween parade that Christina has attended almost every year since she was young. In the summer months, every Tuesday near the high school, local farmers set up tables and sell produce. Another fun event that goes on every June is "Paw Prints on the Canal" that is held at the walking trail near our home.

Our Extended Families

Christina's Family

Both sides of our families are extremely excited and supportive for us to adopt our first child. In fact, Christina's brother and sister-in-law bought us some baby supplies as soon as they heard the news!

Steve's Family

Steve's family is very similar to Christina's family. We are all very close and have larger than life, animated personalities. They have a lot of the same morals, values and interests. They have so much in common even Steve's father and Christina's father share the same birthday!

Most of Christina's family lives just a short drive away; while Steve's family is spread out all along the East coast. We make it a point to get together as often as possible. Every New Year's Eve and Easter are celebrated at our house. Both sides of the family come over and there is always a ton of food and games, which equals tons of fun and laughs that turn into wonderful memories!

From Us to You

To Someone Special,

This may be a difficult time in your life but we hope the more you learn about us the more comfortable and assured you will feel in this very important decision. We are here to pray and support you and we are happy to answer any questions you may have for us.

We met seven years ago through an online dating site and we've been inseparable ever since. We got engaged a year after we started dating and after three years together, before God and all our family and friends, we were married.

We were eager to start our family right away. We tried for two years and without any success. We were advised to get fertility testing done, and it was at that time we found out that we wouldn't be able to get pregnant naturally. After years of infertility drugs and procedures, all our resources physically, emotionally and financially, were spent. Surprisingly, after a few short months we realized that maybe God has something bigger planned for us than what we have planned for ourselves. Once we really let that sink in it was actually a relief to put it all in God's hands and a joy to start our adoption journey.

As husband and wife we compliment each other very well. We have the same morals and values but Steve is definitely more laid back and mellow, while Christina is always on the go ready for the next fun activity.

During the winter months we do stay home often and hang out in the basement playing games or watching movies. We might start an indoor home improvement project. Occasionally we will go out to dinner or an ice hockey game (Go Phantoms!) We enjoy having friends over for game night as well.

In the spring and summer we enjoy a variety of activities such as growing our garden. We plant strawberries, lettuce, zucchini, cucumbers, and tomatoes for homemade tomato sauce (Christina really lets her Italian heritage shine through). We also love going to baseball games (Go Pig's!) since we both grew up playing Steve was his teams pitcher and Christina was her team's catcher (talk about a good match!) On nice days we love going hiking. Our favorite trail is Bushkill Falls; the waterfalls there are just breathtaking!

We believe having a relationship with God is important. Although we do not go to church every Sunday, our faith is very strong and we will teach your child to have that same trust in God. We will teach our child that when things seem so hard and impossible, he is always there to guide you through it.

We will also make sure he or she is involved in activities, just like we were when we were young. Being an adult now we see how we learned certain life lessons from being involved in extra-curricular activities.

We feel family is extremely important, so not only will your child be close with our family, but also with yours. We would like to keep in contact with you and your extended family if you wish by letters, pictures, and we'd like to plan future visits.

Sincerely,

Steve & Christina
