What Makes Us Unique

Beach Birding

Meg is creative, a dreamer, and works hard on things she believes in. In 2013, while working at a nature preserve, Meg dreamed up and implemented a Spring Nature Festival where families could come and enjoy nature over a two day event. This festival is now in its 6th year and we both volunteer at it each year where thousands of people come of all ages. There are exhibits for children where they can learn about animal skulls, live reptiles & falcons, and create nature necklaces. Families can also go on guided hikes, wildflower tours, and learn about native American plant uses. She loves to give children opportunities to be explorers, have fun, and learn along the way.

Andy loves to read and to watch birds! He has read hundreds of books over the years about all sort of subjects. Mostly he reads novels or books about history. He wakes up early to read in the morning and reads in the evenings before bed. His favorite author is Philip Roth. We both got into bird watching about 7 years ago. We have traveled throughout California, the southwest, and even to New York to look at birds and have seen 401 different species of birds so far. Meg's favorite are the warblers and jays. Andy's favorite are roadrunners and falcons. We are looking forward to sharing this world of birds with our child!

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

At the Tide Pools

Our favorite vacation spot is the central coast beach town of Cambria, California. We love to go there and hike in the woods, walk and play on the beach in the sunshine, and eat out at the places in town. There are tide pools with all sorts of fun creatures to look at, great rocks on the beach to climb, and plenty of skipping stones to throw into the water. We like to camp near the beach and hear the waves crashing at night.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Andy About Meg: I love and cherish Megan very much. She is the most important person to me and the best part of my life. I always look forward to waking up to her in the morning and reuniting with her at the end of our work days. I love our life together. Megan takes care of me and makes sure that I am happy and healthy in life. She is so smart and curious and I learn things from her all the time. She has made my life so much more fun and interesting by always encouraging new adventures and new experiences. I love that I can always count on Megan. Megan has been successful at whatever she does and always does her best and I really respect her for that.

Meg About Andy: I love a million things about Andy. He is so kind and steady, giving, and loyal. He is very kind in the way he speaks to me and to others. He is respectful even when he is upset and has disagreements. He works hard every day as a school teacher and his students love him! When we go to school events, his students go out of their way to come say hi with big smiles on their faces. He plays guitar and I love to hear him play and sing. He will play with his and my brothers and it warms my heart. Andy is also quick to laugh and bring levity to life—it is such a lovely way to be.

Our House and Neighborhood

Fresh Cut Flowers From Our Springtime Yard

We really like our home and have worked to make it warm and comfortable. We have a three bedroom house, but our favorite part of our home is our yard. We have huge shade trees and have planted fruit trees and flowering plants that have attracted hummingbirds and butterflies. We are so looking forward to watching our child play, pick fresh fruit, build a tree house, and observe nature right in their own backyard.

Our Home

Our neighborhood is peaceful and friendly and our street has block parties with children's games and potluck-style foods around the holidays. There is a great elementary school and a beautiful park both within walking distance of our home, and a park just 10 minutes away with duck-filled ponds.

We live in California, about two hours away from the beach and very close to the mountains. Our town is a wonderful place to raise a family! There are so many family-focused events throughout the year including parades and light shows around Christmas, Disney-on-Ice shows, a spring nature festival, the town fair in fall, and farmers markets on the weekend. There are also wonderful parks and museums in town, including, our favorite, a living museum that has hundreds of different live animal exhibits.

Our Extended Families

Avengers With Family

We both have wonderful families that fill our lives with love, laughter, warmth, and support. Most of our family lives in the same town that we do and we get together on a regular basis to hike, BBQ, go out to eat, and play basketball and baseball together.

Andy has a large family and we look forward to bringing our child to play with their 14 young cousins at all our holiday get-togethers.

Family Baseball Time

Meg's family is much smaller, but we make up for it in closeness! Meg and her mom love to cook and often make big dinners for the family. They also all help each other with projects around each other's houses and go on vacations together. Just this last December, we went with Meg's family on our first trip to Hawaii. It was a blast! We snorkeled with sea turtles, combed the beach for sea glass, and hiked along volcanoes. Our plan is to take family vacations to fun places like that again and again. If you choose to have us adopt your child, we cannot wait to take them on these adventures, too!

Our families are both very supportive of our adoption plans. They are excited to have an additional member of the family to love and are very happy we are going to be parents.

From Us to You

Adoption is a priceless gift and we are so grateful that you are taking the time to read about us and consider us to be your child's parents! We hope that as you looked through our writings and photos that you saw all the kindness, warmth, and love that we have to offer your child. We cannot imagine how difficult this decision is for you and we just want to reassure you that we will fill your child's life with love and support and as many opportunities as we can for a wonderful life. We are ready to tell our child how much you love them and wanted a great life for them and look forward to sharing letters and pictures with you over the years. We have a high deal of respect and love for you and would be so blessed if you choose us to be the parents of your child.

Here's a little glimpse of our lives ...

We met while in high school on a church work trip in Arizona. Meg loved how friendly and funny Andy was. Andy loved how lively and fun Meg was. We became instant friends and held secret crushes on each other and ended up dating for three years before we married. We have loved our lives together. We like to spend time together traveling, hiking, walking, and playing games and have been and always will be each other's best friend. We are ready to start this next chapter in our lives as parents and share all our love and experiences together with your child.

As your child grows, we are looking forward to watching them play, pick fresh fruit, and observe nature right in their own backyard. Our neighborhood is peaceful and friendly and our street has block parties with children's games and potluck-style foods around the holidays. There is a great elementary school and a beautiful park both within walking distance of our home.

We want to provide a great education experience for our child. We have a very good private elementary, junior high, and high school right in our own neighborhood. They have small class sizes, well-educated teachers, and numerous extra-curricular activities both in very good sports teams and in opportunities to grow classroom gardens. We plan to have our child go to those schools and to be involved with their school work and extra activities so that they will be as successful as they can be.

Our families are wonderful! They fill our lives with a lot of love, laughter, and support. We get together on a regular basis to hike, BBQ, go out to eat, and play basketball and baseball together. We also all help each other with projects around each other's houses and go on vacations together.

We are ready to be parents and to give your child all our love and as many wonderful memories and opportunities as we can in life. Thank you for considering us as you think through this important decision in your own life.

Love,

Andy & Meg
