Brandon & Mandy
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to get to know us! We believe that adoption is a beautiful way to start our family and we are thrilled to welcome a little one into our lives. Our family is and will always be one filled with love, laughter and adventure. We hope that you consider us and we look forward to the journey that lies ahead.
Adoption in Our Lives
Our family is touched by adoption in a couple ways. First, Brandon’s mother was adopted as an infant. Second, Mandy’s mom is a birth mother. Before Mandy was born her mom had placed two of her sisters for adoption. Growing up, her mom was very open about it and explained her reasoning. Every now and then her mom would tear up and talk about how she wished the best for them, and wondered how they were doing, were they safe and warm? She would always end with, “I wanted what was best for them.”
When Mandy was about 12 years old, one the adoptive mothers reached out to her family. One of the girls wanted to meet her birth family and one day it happened! Three years later, Mandy's other sister reached out to her family and expressed that she wanted to meet as well. Now, all four of the sisters have had the opportunity to have a relationship. They still communicate and see each other every chance that they get.
Mandy's sister, Jenny Lyn, and her mom’s relationship grew over the years and they actually attended and graduated clown college together. Yup, they were certified professional clowns who conducted charity events, birthday parties and special events together.
Our Leisure Time
We are fortunate to live on a tropical island and take advantage of everything it has to offer. Sometimes we go on hikes comparing the best waterfall from one weekend to the next. Sometimes we go to the local beach attempting to catch the highest wave while boogie boarding. But our favorite thing to do is snorkel with the multicolor fish and sea turtles in the crystal-clear blue waters.
We love to entertain our friends or our family when they visit, whether it be cooking dinner, game night, or just hanging out. Separately, Brandon loves to work on his 1994 Jeep Wrangler aka “Tin Can” or spend the morning scuba diving with his friends. Mandy likes to go shopping or go grab a cup of coffee with girlfriends. We also travel to the nearby islands, go to yummy food truck festivals, participate in water activities like parasailing or paddle boarding.
One of our passions is traveling, and we have been fortunate enough to take some amazing trips both in the states and internationally (France, Austria, London, Japan). We love exploring and experiencing different cultures, foods, and people. We always look forward to our next trip, and this is something we would love to continue with our children.
How We Met
We met in December 2010 when we both were stationed in Florida as military instructors. We both had the same boss but worked on separate bases in the city. We would occasionally see each at work related events or occasional social events. Mandy had always had a crush on Brandon but never told him. We didn’t start dating until after Brandon transferred duty stations to Hawaii, September of 2013. Mandy attended Brandon's work farewell luncheon and that is when they exchanged contact information. We continued to exchange emails and text messages for a couple of months, it was then that Mandy expressed that she had, had a crush for the past three years. Brandon then invited her to come out to Hawaii for Thanksgiving. It was history from there!
Our Extended Families
Brandon comes from a blended family and has four sisters, most of them scattered across Texas. His best memories as a child were family vacations at the state park or camping. A unique fact about Brandon's family, is that they enjoy dressing up and going to Renaissance festivals. Brandon also has two children from a previous relationship; Josh who is 17, and Peyton who is 15. They live with their mother on the mainland, but come to see us every summer for a month or so. Though we don't get to see them as often as we'd like, we enjoy the time we do get with them.
Mandy comes from a pretty big family, she has three half-sisters, many aunts, uncles and cousins on both her mom and dad side who all live in Pennsylvania. Mandy's fondest memories as a child include Holiday dinners with the entire family and playing with all of her cousins. She also cherishes the memories of her mother reading to her when she was younger. A unique fact about Mandy's family, is that her mother, one sister and her aunt all graduated clown college, and were professional clowns.
Unfortunately, none of our family members live in Hawaii, but we often travel home to visit them or occasionally they will fly out to see us. When we are around family, we tend to spend the majority of our time catching up, playing cards, eating yummy food and laughing about the good times. Both of our families are very happy and excited about our adoption journey.
Our House and Neighborhood
We currently live on the beautiful island of Oahu. We own a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath house that overlooks the ocean. Our home is on a hill and we have an amazing view of the entire south side of the island from anywhere in our home. Our favorite part of the house is our patio/backyard which wraps around the entire house. This is where we spend majority of our time, enjoying the island life. We are either watching our 4-year-old English Bulldog chase lizards around in the grass, barbequing some yummy food, sitting on the deck enjoying the view or sitting in the shade over on the patio. Our second favorite part of our home is the loft. It is so cozy to be snuggled up on the couch watching a movie.
We often invite our neighbors over to BBQ or hang out and they have an 8-month-old little boy – he would be the perfect friend for our child! There is a park within walking distance that has a nice playground for younger kids, a baseball field and a large grass area that has a spectacular view of the fireworks on the 4th of July and New Year’s. We are 10 minutes from the beach, family waterpark, and the Disney Resort Lagoons which are protected shallow waters perfect for small children. Our community is always hosting fun children’s festivities and there is always something to do!
From Us to You
Aloha! Thank you for taking a moment to get to know us and for your consideration to help make our dreams come true. We hope that you will see that we will provide your child with a loving, fun, active, adventurous, and creative life, and that you will be a special part of that journey. We can hardly fathom the strength and unconditional love it has taken for you to make an adoption plan, but we will work every day to ensure that our child continues to be surrounded by the same love and strength.
A little background on us, we met about 10 years ago when we both were stationed in Florida. Brandon worked in Jacksonville and Mandy worked in Mayport, Florida. We actually didn’t start our relationship until after we both transferred from there. Our lives have been very eventful and fulfilling since then. We have traveled around the world together and spent holidays across four continents. We have been married for two out of the six years we have been together. We have a little fur-baby named Nana, she is a 4-year-old English Bulldog and is the joy of our life.
We are both active duty military with over 17 years of service. We are both currently in a non-deployable status and one of us will probably retire within the next 5 years to become a stay-at-home parent. We are fortunate to have been successful in our careers and are financially stable enough to provide a very safe and loving home to a child.
We love each other "to the moon and back." We have so strongly desired a family but have struggled with infertility for several years and after suffering through multiple pregnancy losses, we have decided that adoption is the way that we are going to grow our family. Adoption has always had a special place in our hearts. Brandon’s mom was adopted, and Mandy’s mother made an adoption plan for two of her older sisters. We have seen the beauty of adoption first hand.
If we are given the privilege to adopt your baby, we will give him or her a safe home, which will be filled with love, joy, and laughter. We will always be our child’s biggest advocate and cheerleader. We will raise our child to try new things and to be brave because he or she will always have us to fall back on. We will encourage them to pursue hobbies and activities they enjoy, and we will be there to support them every step of the way. We aim to create a home where there is open communication so our child feels they can freely express themselves without judgement. Our child will be given the chance for a college education and to be in a position to accomplish whatever they want to do in life. They will know that their birth family gave us the most amazing gift and that we will cherish them and their choice.
It is hard to show you our life through a profile, but we hope that you see our love and commitment for each other, family, friends and future children. More than anything we want you to know that we will love this child unconditionally and will devote our lives to providing a loving home and encouraging them to follow their dreams.
We have never wanted anything more but to be a mommy and a daddy together. We greatly look forward to our future with a little one in our home filling it with laughter and joy. We are so excited to explore this new adventure of adopting and welcoming a precious child into our home, our family and our lives. It would mean more than anything in the world to us for you to allow us to care, love, and raise your precious angel.
