Chris & Venessa
Thank you so much for viewing our profile. We cannot express how excited and grateful we are that you are taking time to learn about us. Through our story we hope you see the love we have for each other, our families, and life. We look forward to sharing all of this love with a child.
We both grew up in families that focused on spending quality time together, especially on holidays and special occasions. That sense of togetherness is one of the things we most look forward to sharing with a child. Near the top of the list would be our summer vacations with extended family where we spend a week together at different locations in the US taking part in the local activities. We follow that up in the winter by making our rounds to different family members and friends during the Christmas season. Both of these are great ways for us as a family to reconnect and strengthen the bonds we have made throughout the years.
Of course, those are some of our bigger traditions, but we care just as much about the smaller traditions we have as well. Simple things like spending mornings together before work or grabbing ice cream on Saturdays all help to build those strong family bonds. We cannot wait to see what new traditions are made with the addition of a child.
Our Dogs, Roxy & Finn
We have two dogs that help keep things interesting around the house. Both of our dogs were rescues from local animal shelters, one of which is from the shelter Venessa currently volunteers for. We are both animal lovers, but love dogs most of all. We love our dogs’ sense of playfulness, loyalty, and compassion. Roxy is our oldest and the larger of the two dogs. She is 11 years old and is starting to slow down a bit, but still loves to play and go for jogs with Chris around the neighborhood. She does great around children by watching over them as they play in our house. Finn is our youngest and smaller of the two dogs. He is 1 year old and still has a lot of playful puppy in him. He loves to explore and play which is fun for us as we help him burn off his energy by going on walks and keeping him active. Finn is also great with children, but where Roxy watches over them, Finn loves to be right in the mix with them playing. We look forward to both of them interacting with a new addition to our family.
Education We will Provide
Planning for our family began many years ago as we chose where to live. This is important in our area as neighborhoods with good schools can be challenging to get in to. Fortunately, the school district we are now part of is one of the best in the area. It has great primary and secondary schools that prepare a child well for any future opportunities. They also offer many different activities that range from sports to the arts. We look forward to helping them explore different activities as they grow to help them discover their unique passions. After High School, we want to support our child in whatever path they choose. That includes supporting them financially through college or other post-secondary schooling that they need. This support will be able to offer them the assistance they need to have a successful career without financial burden as they start their journey into adulthood.
Our Extended Families
We are fortunate to both come from loving and supporting families. Venessa comes from a large family with five brothers and three sisters, many of which have families of their own. They are fun, loud and full of life. Together they enjoy spending time together cooking, watching movies, and playing games. Venessa takes girl trips with her mother and sisters and we both vacation with the family whenever possible.
Chris is one of three brothers and also has nieces and a nephew that we enjoy spending time with. Family gatherings usually revolve around the holidays and vacations. Our last family trip to Dauphin Island was spent around the pool and beach playing in the water with the kids and building sandcastles. We’d get up early and scour the beach for shells. The entire family also spent a day at the aquarium learning about the local sea life.
All of our loved ones are excited and supportive of our adoption journey. They cannot wait to help us welcome a child into our home and our family.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a quiet neighborhood in Louisiana. Our home has four bedrooms and three bathrooms with an open living space where we spend time watching movies and entertaining friends and family. It has plenty of room for us to grow in to over the coming years. Our kitchen is large and perfect for preparing and cooking meals for a crowd. The backyard is spacious and great for playing games.
In our neighborhood there is a community pond to fish in and swimming pool for all to enjoy. There are many families with young children in our subdivision that participate in the annual Easter egg hunt and trick-or-treating. They also have an annual pool party. It is a great neighborhood in which to raise a family. We feel very fortunate to live close to our church and a short distance to excellent outdoor parks and many other attractions that are fun for all ages.
From Us to You
Words cannot express how honored and excited we are that you would consider us as adoptive parents for your child. We can only imagine some of the thoughts and feelings you must be having right now in dealing with this decision. Hopefully through this profile we can give you a better sense of who we are and how much it would mean to us to adopt. We would be forever changed by your brave and selfless act.
We met 19 years ago when Chris was in college and have been together ever since. Throughout those 19 years we have moved to different areas of the country but have finally found the place we call home. It was not always easy, but we always had each other to lean on through the difficult times. Some of those difficult times included dealing with infertility issues. After a couple of years of trying different options it became clear that our choice would be to grow our family through adoption. We have witnessed so many of our close friends and family have a wonderful experience with adoption. It was clear that God was pointing us in this direction. Since then we have poured our heart and soul into finding a child to bring into our home. We are grateful to have this opportunity as we truly believe we have a great home that is full of love to share.
Our faith, our strong relationship and our stable home environment will be a great foundation to raise a child. We complement each other really well. Venessa is spontaneous, outgoing, and really creative whereas Chris is a bit more deliberate, introspective, and direct. We both have a strong desire to give our love to a child that will be added to this happy, loving home. We look forward to teaching them those things that our parents taught us to help be successful. That includes everything from how to appreciate what you have to loving and respecting those around you. Watching and supporting a child become who they were meant to be will be a dream come true for us.
We are fortunate in that we will be able to provide for them a great education with our local schools. That coupled with financial support for college, or whatever they choose next in life, will be something that we feel will have them well prepared for the future. We also look forward to exposing them to new experiences through travel and other activities to where they develop into a well-rounded individual.
As that child grows, we want them to know how they came to be a part of our family. We plan to share that journey with them in an open and caring way so there is never any doubt as to where they came from. A big part of that can only happen by having a relationship with you, the birth parents. In order to build that relationship, we want to keep in contact with you by sending pictures and letters, or visiting in person as the child grows up. We want everyone to be comfortable in the amount of contact we have as the years go by as it is our desire to keep this open and positive for everyone including you and the child.
Again, thank you for considering us as potential adoptive parents for your child. We consider the choice you are making very admirable. Because of your loving and courageous choice, a couple's dream of growing a family can come true. We would be honored and forever grateful to be that couple. But, no matter who you choose, we believe that you are making a beautiful decision for this child's future.
